Liverpool interest in Bellingham confirmed but teenager cost at least £100m

The 18-year-old is widely considered one of the best teenagers in world football, having established himself as a star in the Bundesliga.

Already an England international, the midfielder has delivered performances far beyond his years in the Champions League, and it's no surprise some of Europe's top clubs are interested.

Dortmund's Players Licence Department director Sebastian Kehl has confirmed the Reds are one of those sides.

He told Sport1: "There's a lot of interest around Jude Bellingham, not only Liverpool."

Kehl added: "But there is no bottom line and no exit clause."

As the £67million sale of Jadon Sancho to Manchester United showed, Dortmund's model centres around buying cheap young talent, developing them and selling for huge profit.

Erling Haaland is likely to leave next summer when his £68m release clause activates, but the club are under no such obligation to sell Bellingham, whose deal runs until 2025.

Having signed him from Birmingham for just £25m in 2020, BILD reports Dortmund have put a £101m price tag on the Englishman for any potential suitors.

And he is already a firm favourite in Germany where he left people stunned at a recent solo goal.

Journalist Lars Siversten recently told talkSPORT that even the Bundesliga giants are shocked by how good Bellingham is at such a young age.

"They saw him as an unpolished diamond who they could mould into a top midfielder," Sivertsen explained. "Someone who had all the ingredients.

"But he came in and he was almost ready from day one.

"He plays in midfield for what is a top European team as if he was 31.

"The kid is still 18, he's so good at a range of different things in terms of how good he is on the ball and his range of passing, but he's also not afraid to get stuck in, he has that sort of maturity he's so confident and at ease in his position."
