Liam Gallagher jokes about brother Noel's injury during Man City title celebrations

The Oasis frontman has endured a topsy-turvy relationship with Noel and spoke about the headbutt saga and his beloved City in a lengthy chat with Chris Evans on Virgin Radio, ahead of his sold-out gigs next week at the Etihad Stadium and Knebworth.

Noel told talkSPORT how he was left bloodied while celebrating Ilkay Gundogan's winner in City's 3-2 comeback in over Aston Villa last Sunday at the Etihad which secured the Premier League title.

The father of City defender Ruben Dias' ran directly into him, with an inadvertent headbutt, leaving the musician requiring an ambulance and needing stitches.

When asked if he saw Noel at last Sunday's game at the Etihad, Liam Gallagher told Virgin Radio: "No, I don't go to City games."

The singer then couldn't resist a jibe at his younger brother Noel, saying: "He's too busy getting headbutted off Dias' dad!

"Apparently when we scored the third goal and they all went mad, Ruben Dias' dad came along and headbutted him. I'd have had to put the boot in as well!"

Gallagher recently revealed he would be adopting a new level of professionalism where he'd aim to "tone down and dial up" but admitted he failed in his mission after City's recent 2-2 draw at West Ham.

"I was doing well until the West Ham game and then I kicked off because we didn't win it," he said. "Then the following game against Villa, when we won it.

"You've got to have a drink when you win the league. So now I've got to get my head together very quickly.

"I'm glad in a sense we're not in the Champions League final because the Etihad gig would be off and probably Knebworth because I'd still be in Paris having it."

The 49-year-old is preparing to kick off a busy summer of touring that will see him perform in the UK, Portugal, Netherlands, Australia and New Zealand but revealed that City gives him more excitement than any of his musical plans.

"I'm more excited by City winning the league than Knebworth or any of that stuff and the album. Bothered!" he added.

Gallagher is a regular on Twitter, often posting about his beloved City and had an amusing exchange with Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher in the wake of his club's title success.

The singer admitted he's taken a hiatus from the social media platform this week after his lively weekend - but will be back for more if Liverpool lose the Champions League final to Real Madrid on Saturday night.

"I've not been on it [Twitter] for a week because I've been a bit naughty and all the abuse from Liverpool fans so I'm letting them have a breather," he said.

"But if they get beat tomorrow night I'll be back on with a vengeance.

"I want Real Madrid to win for sure. But if Liverpool win it, they deserve it, so fair play to them."

Asked if he will be watching it, he replied: "No! That Sunday done me in so I'm not even watching it."
