Loris Karius hasn't played a single official game with Liverpool since that disastrous Champions League final against Real Madrid in Kyiv back on May 26, 2018.
The German goalkeeper stole the limelight with his errors in that game against Los Blancos, and from that point on he hasn't donned the Reds shirt again.
Liverpool are now awaiting his contract to come to an end on June 30 in order to part ways with the German 'keeper, four years after that final.
Problems at Besiktas and Union Berlin
Karius, who will soon turn 29 years old, moved to Turkish side Besiktas, where he plied his trade for two seasons in 2018/19 and 2019/20, registering a total of 67 appearances.
However, he had a troublesome time in Turkey, where he reported Besiktas for not paying his wages midway through the first season. This led to a feud with the club during his two-year loan spell.
After departing Besiktas, Karius opted for a return to the Bundesliga, but things didn't work out at Union Berlin where he made just five appearances in 2020/21.
Last summer, he returned to Liverpool again but he wasn't part of Jurgen Klopp's plans. After the Kyiv disaster, Liverpool spent as much as 75 million euros to land Alisson from Roma, and their move paid dividends.
Karius is now Liverpool's fifth-choice goalkeeper, having not played a single minute in the 2021/22 campaign.
"[Karius] is currently part of the goalkeeping contingent at the AXA Training Centre again," reads the club's description on their official website.
