Jurgen Klopp can finally answer to Jamie Carragher's criticism of Liverpool if they manage to beat Chelsea at Wembley.

The two Premier League giants take on one another in the Carabao Cup final with both sides looking to claim multiple trophies this year.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has already won the Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup with the Blues whereas Liverpool have ambitions to tussle Manchester City for the Premier League title.

Neither manager has won a domestic cup with their teams despite both winning the Champions League during their respective tenures.

But Liverpool have not lifted the Carabao Cup of the FA Cup since 2012 and 2006 respectively, something that Carragher has taken issue with.

"Winning the biggest prize of all — the 2019 Champions League — and ending the 30-year wait to become English champions in 2020 secured Klopp's legend," he wrote in his column earlier this season for The Telegraph.

"The subsequent UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup victories made for a memorable 12 months.

"But if Klopp leaves Liverpool in 2024 without adding to them, there will be regret when considering all the other seasons where scintillating football went without silverware."

Carragher was part of a Liverpool squad that swept up awards in the shape of two FA Cups, three League Cups and the UEFA Cup.

In fact, the Liverpool legend was part of the team that last won the FA Cup at Anfield in 2006 but Klopp has a chance to answer that with a win today over Chelsea.

The Reds go into the match as slight favourites due to their brilliant form recently with their forwards flying.

Liverpool have not lost a match this calendar year, including wins over Arsenal, Inter Milan and a 6-0 drubbing of Leeds United.

But Klopp has tasted failure before in finals with the Merseyside outfit, including the Carabao Cup in 2016 when they lost to City on penalties, while the competition has typically been one that the German coach has often tried and tested his younger players.

"It's second time for me in this competition and I have lost so many finals in my life, but the few I won and the ones I lost didn't hold me back to try again," Liverpool boss Klopp said.

"We realised how big it is during the ride - each round we made, it was always really, really nice.

"If we could win it then it will be a proper trophy for the whole club because we used players from the under-18s, under-23s and it makes a really nice journey and a really nice story and I hope we can bring it back and celebrate it with the academy."
