Jose Mourinho facing Serie A punishment for Instagram posts

Jose Mourinho is once again facing punishment from Serie A - and this time not for his touchline antics.

The former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur boss sent out an inflammatory Instagram post on Wednesday which suggested his Roma were treated unfairly in comparison to rivals Juventus.

After Juve were allowed to re-take a penalty - which Paulo Dybala had initially put wide - due to encroachment from Zenit St Petersburg players in the Champions League on Tuesday, Mourinho brought up a contradictory incident during his side's recent clash with the Bianconeri.

Giallorossi midfielder Jordan Veretout saw Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny save his spot-kick in their Serie A match but there was no re-take, despite Giorgio Chiellini 's encroachment.

Mourinho used two images to convey his disapproval at the officiating in the different competitions, captioning the post which has almost received half-a-million likes: "One had to be retaken, one hadn't… Guess which."

Roma eventually lost 1-0 against Juventus, with their penalty coming in even more controversial circumstances.

Despite ex-Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham putting the ball in the back of the net, referee Daniele Orsato blew his whistle for a foul on team-mate Henrikh Mkhitaryan a split-second earlier.

It left the Giallorossi furious and Veretout missed to rub salt in their wounds.

'The Special One' could now face his second touchline ban of the season, having already been sent off in his team's 2-2 draw with Napoli.

Mourinho's social media swipe comes three days after he claimed that he would get into trouble if he aired his thoughts on decisions made during Roma's 2-1 defeat to AC Milan on Sunday, ending his 43-game record of not losing at home in Italy.

"I want to be on the bench on Sunday and I don't want a disciplinary action against me. That's why I don't want to talk," the 58-year-old stated following the latest defeat.

"I congratulate Milan, who won. Seeing that there is no respect for the Roma players is hard, respect that we have is the respect that everyone should have but it is not like that.

"In a game where we did not play well in the first half and against a good team, there was no respect for the Roma fans."

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who Mourinho managed at both United and Inter Milan, opened the scoring for AC at the Stadio Olimpico to net his 400th career league goal, firing in a free-kick past Rui Patricio.

However, Ibrahimovic won a penalty soon after which Franck Kessie dispatched.

Roma pulled one back in the dying embers through Stephan El Shaarawy, with Milan down to 10 men as a result of Theo Hernandez's rash tackle.

Mourinho and co welcome Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt in the Europa Conference League on Thursday evening, having historically thrashed the Giallorossi 6-1 in the reverse fixture.
