Jesse Lingard may grow more furious with Man Utd thanks to Donny van de Beek

Jesse Lingard already has a list of irritations with Manchester United and that could be about to grow due to the club's January transfer decision over Donny van de Beek

Jesse Lingard has been handed another grievance by Manchester United to add to his many existing frustrations with the club.

The attacking midfielder, 29, has been pushing for a way out of Old Trafford throughout the January transfer window but an exit is yet to materialise with Deadline Day looming.

Newcastle emerged in pole position for Lingard's services and they were resigned to stumping up a large loan fee to get the deal over the line.

However, the Red Devils demanded a sum beyond what Eddie Howe's side were willing to pay, leaving the England international angered and disrespected.

To make matters worse, Lingard had already been denied the chance to join Tottenham or West Ham because Manchester United chiefs view them as rivals for Champions League qualification.

There are growing fears in Lingard's camp that United plan to keep him on the bench throughout the second half of the season, with the academy graduate yet to start a Premier League game this term.

In stark contrast, the club appear willing to part ways with Donny van de Beek, who has emerged as a loan target for Crystal Palace late in the window.

While they will not allow the Dutchman to leave permanently, the Red Devils are likely to lower their loan fee expectations for the player who is not out of contract this summer.

This is because Ralf Rangnick's side will benefit in the long run if Van de Beek has a successful stint in the starting XI, whereas Lingard playing regularly for Newcastle is of little consequence for them.

The United academy graduate is out of contract this summer, so the only incentive to let him depart on loan is a financial one, at least from the point of view of Old Trafford chiefs.

The Daily Mail reports Newcastle would need to pay a total of £15million to Manchester United when Lingard's £100,000-per-week wages, the loan fee and a bonus for avoiding relegation to the Championship are taken into account.

Lingard may understandably feel this has blocked him securing a move which could thrust him into contention for a spot in Gareth Southgate's squad at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Conversely, Van de Beek could give Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal something to think about with an eye-catching spell at Selhurst Park.

The 24-year-old has scored one goal in 14 appearances this season, the vast majority of which have come from the bench under Rangnick as well as his predecessor, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

He has been an unused substitute in five of United's last six Premier League games but did come off the bench briefly in the 2-2 draw with Aston Villa.
