Jack Grealish taunted on Instagram by PSG's Achraf Hakimi following defeat

PSG impressed in a statement victory as they beat Manchester City 2-0 in their second Champions League group game on Tuesday - and their players are revelling in the glory.

Lionel Messi stole the show in a star-studded tie at the Parc des Princes with his first goal for PSG which all-but settled proceedings after Idrissa Gueye's early opener.

It was a rude awakening for Pep Guardiola's City - who knocked PSG out of the competition at the semi-final stage last season.

PSG got their revenge this year in a frustrating game for City's stars - including £100million man Jack Grealish - as they banged at their opponent's door but couldn't find a goal.

Grealish has settled in impressively during his brief time at his new club, but has ultimately been left red-faced by PSG's Achraf Hakimi, who took to Instagram to taunt the midfielder after keeping him under close wraps in Paris.

In City's last Champions League game, Grealish netted a brilliant solo goal on his debut in the competition, but struggled to find a way past £72m summer signing Hakimi.

The England ace failed to penetrate PSG's defence and to add insult to injury, Hakimi wasted no time in taunting Grealish after the win.

In the post on social media, Hakimi uploaded a photo of him gliding past a grounded Grealish, who is laid flat out on the turf after failing with his attempts to win the ball back for his side.

Hakimi's post amassed over a million likes as fans responded to his playful jibe at the City man's expense.

The Moroccan wing-back's post rubbed salt in the wounds as City continue their tough run of fixtures this week, having beaten Chelsea, but lost to PSG, they now look ahead to playing Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

Hakimi impressed during the game and has ever since his big-money move from Inter Milan, after Chelsea missed out on his signature.

The speedy wing-back has quickly made himself a vital part of PSG's attacks, and played a role in the first goal, while his overlap helped open up space for Messi's brilliant strike late on.

PSG went ahead early thanks to an eighth-minute goal from ex-Aston Villa and Everton man Gueye.

From there, the Parisian team almost let their opposition back into the tie, and were it not for Bernardo Silva missing an open goal from a few yards out, City would have drawn level.

Italian giant Gianluigi Donnarumma looked in fine form and was one of the stand-out players for PSG.

He made a string of brilliant saves to keep PSG ahead as both Joao Cancelo and Ruben Dias stung Donnarumma's palms with efforts on goal.

City kept knocking at the door but were unable to find a reply, with Guardiola admitting post-mtach: "At the end, yeah, the last 10 minutes were better, good performance we did everything [but] we couldn't score.

"We defended well, they defended deep and of course their counter attack is always dangerous with the quality they have but we controlled them. Unfortunately we couldn't score but that's football.

"Nothing to say more than my biggest compliment for the team."
