The pair shared a dressing room together for six years during their Nou Camp days, winning four LaLiga titles and a Champions League crown, among other trophies.
Suarez was linked with a switch to Inter Miami last summer but remained at Brazilian club Gremio, but he could soon link up once again with Messi in the United States.
The 36-year-old previously confirmed he would leave Gremio in December when the Brazilian football season comes to an end.
He had penned a two-year contract with Gremio but will leave 12 months ahead of schedule, prompting rumours he could reunite with Messi.
Inter Miami boss Gerardo Martino has since revealed he is keen to lure Suarez to Florida this winter.

"Within our analysis of the upcoming season, and the needs we may have, we have an analysis with Luis and an analysis without Luis," Martino said at a press conference.
"So when the moment arrives to make Suarez's situation with respect to Inter Miami official, we'll be prepared to go in the corresponding direction."
Martino previously managed Messi during the 2013/14 campaign when in charge at Barcelona, a year before Suarez's £75million move from Liverpool.
A move stateside for the Uruguayan wouldn't only see him reunite with Messi but also with Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.
