Last weekend, Hertha were held to a goalless draw by Wolfsburg, missing an opportunity to pull away from one of their rivals at the wrong end of the table, and things got even worse in midweek when their dreams of reaching the final of the DFB Cup on home soil were shattered by city rivals Union. The last thing Tayfun Korkut's men would have wanted to see entering the Olympiastadion car park is Bayern, then, but they will have to roll up the sleeves and plot an upset, with at least some good news arriving from the treatment room. Stevan Jovetic, who has not played since mid-December, is nearing a comeback and could be part of the squad this weekend, although a start is unlikely for the much-travelled forward. Instead, Ishak Belfodil should be given the nod to partner Myziane Maolida, with Davie Selke an alternative.
Bayern's early elimination from the DFB Cup meant they had a rare rest this midweek, although they were still making the headlines with Lewandowski picking up his prize as the Best FIFA Men's Player. His latest hat-trick earned them a 4-0 win at Cologne last weekend and underlined why he remains the best footballer on the planet, and he has already set out breaking more records with 23 goals Bundesliga goals to his name this season, and 300 at German football's top table all told. This weekend, he is likely to be supported by Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sane and the league's perennial top assist provider Thomas Müller. With Dayot Upamecano available again for Julian Nagelsmann, Benjamin Pavard could return to the right-hand side of the defence with Joshua Kimmich restored to his preferred place in front of the back four.
