Henderson considering Liverpool future as Klopp's authority under threat

Jordan Henderson's Liverpool future looks increasingly in doubt, as contract talks have stalled in a tense stalemate.

And in what may even become an issue that impacts the authority of manager Jurgen Klopp, the Reds captain will refuse to drag negotiations out, as he looks to avoid the frustrating experience of Gini Wijnaldum.

That has already put several top European clubs on red alert, with PSG known to be admirers of the experienced England international, as their manager Mauricio Pochettino attempts to reunite him with Wijnaldum.

Henderson's situation is complicated, but it is understood, with contract talks at an impasse and no sign of negotiations being resurrected, the skipper will now seriously consider his position.

People close to the situation have suggested Henderson will:

*Demand the club makes clear if they want him to stay or not

*Seek a transfer THIS summer, IF it is clear he isn't valued by the money men

*Refuse to drag out talks

*Avoid a Wijnaldum situation where he eventually leaves on a free

*Insist his value to the team is reflected in any new contract

Klopp passionately wants his captain and leader to stay - but he also made clear he was desperate to keep hold of Wijnaldum, only to lose him when director Mike Gordon and Sporting Director Michael Edwards overruled him as they refused to meet the Dutch star's demands.

If the same happens with Henderson - who has been integral to Liverpool 's success under Klopp - then serious questions would be asked about the manager's influence and authority over team matters.

The situation is serious enough to have several clubs watching with real interest, with Atletico Madrid also in the market, and Italian club Juventus said to be monitoring proceedings.

This the first salvo in what is a delicate and complicated negotiation, but Henderson's advisors know at 31, he needs his contract sorted out now, and not in two years when he completes his current deal.

And as impossible as it would surely seem to Liverpool fans, that poses a very real threat to Henderson's future at Anfield.
