Kane left Tottenham this summer in an extraordinary deal that has Bayern Munich snap up the England captain for a fee worth up to over £100million.
But one action on New Year's Day in 2014 helped Spurs supporters realise they had a gem on their hands and it came before he'd even scored a league goal.
Tim Sherwood was taking charge of just his fourth match of the club after being given the keys on an interim basis following the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas.
Tottenham were heading towards their fourth victory under his stewardship, as well, after Emmanuel Adebayor and Christian Eriksen put them two up after 66 minutes.
However, just seconds after kick-off and Danny Welbeck halved the deficit to give David Moyes' side hope with just over 20 minutes to go.

To give you clue of where Tottenham were at, Romanian centre-back Vlad Chiriches was named Man of the Match in the game, probably the highlight of his two-year spell.
But, who did Sherwood turn to in a bid to close out the result? A 20-year-old Kane, of course.
On to replace Roberto Soldado, he proved effective, running the channels and holding up the ball.
Some eyebrows were raised considering that the youngster hadn't netted in the Premier League while some wondered whether he would be good enough or not.

But while the fresh-faced starlet would not get on the scoresheet again, he still proved he had what it takes at the top level level with some serious smarts in added time.
With two minutes left, a Mousa Dembele fell towards Kane, offside after pressing David De Gea, and while others would have left the ball the England captain showcased the dark arts.
He absolutely blasted the ball high into the Old Trafford crowd to large groans from the United supporters and cheers from the away supporters.
Instead of a simple quick free-kick for the Red Devils, a big chunk of time was wasted, and, nonchalantly, Kane carried on his walk back to an onside position allowing Spurs to clinch victory.
It was their second win in a row at Old Trafford having previously not beaten them there since 1989.
And Kane fully endeared himself to supporters with his brilliant cameo.
Tottenham fans remembering the incident were left in stitches, including this one, who read: "Still my favourite ever Harry Kane moment."
Another wrote: "Hahahahaha my King!"
While this fan said: "This is what I think of whenever someone mentions Harry Kane.
"Knew watching this he would become world class. Skills, goals, beautiful passes? No, stuff like this makes me love football."
Manchester United travel to London this weekend and face a Spurs side shorn of their legendary striker.
New coach Ange Postecoglou looks set to place his faith in Richarlison, not just this weekend but for the rest of the season.
While the Brazilian had a tough time last season, there is hope that the shackles will be loosened under the new Australian coach.
Richarlison scored just one league goal all season in a tough campaign for Tottenham, who finished eighth and out of Europe.
Antonio Conte's regimental system never truly suited the Samba star, who loves to play with emotion and lives on the edge, and who struggled with injuries for much of the campaign.
And a starring role against United could be exactly what the former Everton star needs to reboot his Spurs career and give him the oomph necessary to fill Kane's boots.

Richarlison certainly needs no encouragement when it comes to gamesmanship and while a rival striker will almost certainly arrive, a coming of age moment in north London, like Kane's at Old Trafford, could kick-start his carrer with Tottenham.
Richarlison can't replace 280 goals in 435 appearances but he can give his all - and that's all Tottenham fans can ask right now.
