Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott admitted he is 'absolutely devastated' by his injury at Leeds but he has been 'totally overwhelmed' by the messages of support from Reds fans.
The teenager appeared to suffer a serious injury in his side's three-goal victory at Elland Road on Sunday when he went down awkwardly under a challenge from Pascal Struijk.
The 18-year-old will undergo surgery in the coming days after dislocating his left ankle and is now expected to be on the sidelines for a significant period of time.
Elliott had started all four of Jurgen Klopp's side's Premier League matches to date this campaign and is now preparing to begin a lengthy period of rehabilitation.

The player took to social media on Monday to offer an update on his condition and to thank fans of the club for their messages of support.
Elliott wrote on Instagram on Monday morning: "I'm of course absolutely devastated with what happened yesterday at Leeds but have been totally overwhelmed by the love and support shown to me by the entire football world following the injury.
"Thank you so much to everyone who has reached out or sent messages to me and my family, it means so much to us.
"Also a massive thanks to everyone inside Elland Road for the reception you gave me immediately after it happened.
"I am now fully focused on my recovery and will give everything in my rehabilitation to be back out there as soon as I can. I know I have an incredible support network behind me at Liverpool and together we will get through this.
"To all of the Liverpool fans, your support means the world to me. I'm one of you and I can't wait to be back faster, fitter and stronger to help the team in the future.

"You'll Never Walk Alone!"
Elliott returned to Anfield this season following a successful season-long loan spell at Blackburn Rovers in the Championship in the 2020/21 campaign.
The teenager made 42 appearances for Blackburn and scored seven goals in the second tier, and has been instantly integrated into the Reds first-team squad for this season.
Reds boss Klopp said after the game: "I saw the situation. I could see his foot was not in the right place. That is why we were all shocked.
"Massive pain, shock for him, for us and we don't know more. We have to wait.
"I cannot feel the game anymore. Harvey overshadows everything."
