The goalmachine striker has not played since the 4-0 Champions League drubbing Borussia Dortmund suffered against Ajax on October 19.
Dortmund have missed his goals in Europe as they lost to the Dutch side again on Wednesday, this time falling 3-1 at home.
The 21-year-old already has 13 goals in just 10 games this season and has a record of 70 goals in 69 games for the club since he joined.
But he is facing an extended period on the sidelines due to an ongoing hip injury and, according to his former footballer father, he may not play again in 2021.
"He's doing relatively well considering the situation, but he'll be out for a little while," Alf-Inge Haaland told TV 2 Norway of his son's injury.
"It would be a bonus if he gets some games before Christmas, but it's rather unlikely."
Haaland has a £64million release clause that kicks in at the end of the season with Manchester United, Man City and Chelsea among the clubs said to be weighing-up a move.
Although he would be available for a relatively cheap deal, the clubs have been warned that the true cost could be around £250million.
Chelsea striker Timo Werner's agent Volker Struth explained to Germany outlet Bild the finer details of the deal, and why Bayern Munich are unlikely to be in the race.
"Haaland has a release clause," he said.
"The entire package with five-year salary and commission for the agent will probably be on the border of €250-300m [£254million].
"Even if Bayern Munich had the money, they would not do it. All hell would break out if a player in Germany [was paid] €50million."
