Goztepe SKvs.Kayserispor

sportsmole.co.uk, 21 September 2024, 15:49
Goztepe SK will hope to maintain their unbeaten start to the Turkish Super Lig season when they host Kayserispor at the Gursel Aksel Stadium on Monday.

Meanwhile, the visitors are still searching for their first win of the season despite being unbeaten in their last three matches.

Match preview

Newly promoted Goztepe picked up their first win of the season last time out to remain unbeaten in their first four matches since gaining promotion to the top flight at the end of the previous season.

After drawing their opening three matches, Stanimir Stoilov's side hosted another promoted side, Bodrumspor, last Saturday, winning 2-0 courtesy of goals from Romulo Cardoso and Djalma Silva.

These results leave Goztepe in 10th place with six points heading into their next game against Kayserispor, a side they have not beaten in their last five encounters, losing two and drawing three.

However, the hosts have been solid on home soil, unbeaten in their last 14 competitive matches at home dating back to their previous campaign in the second division.

Since losing at home to Sivasspor on the opening day, Kayserispor have drawn all three matches afterwards, including a 2-2 draw against Trabzonspor last Thursday despite leading by two goals with two minutes left to play in normal time.

The Anatolian Star began on the front foot when Hasan Ali Kaldirim put them ahead in the 12th minute, before Aylton Boa Morte doubled the lead in the second half - however, Gokhan Sazdagi was sent off for a second bookable offence to leave them one man short on the 87th minute, and this proved decisive as the Kayseri side conceded two goals afterwards to draw the game.

Burak Yilmaz will be unsatisfied with his side's start to the season despite their unbeaten streak, as they are currently in 15th after four matches played while still searching for their first win of the season.

With just one win in their last 15 competitive matches, drawing seven times and losing on seven occasions, Kayserispor will hope they can turn things around with a win on Monday.

However, the visitors have won twice in their last 13 away fixtures and have drawn three and lost eight games in that period.

Team News

Goztepe will be without Lasse Nielsen, who is sidelined with an ankle injury and is only expected back next month.

Goalkeeper Arda Ozcimen is doubtful for this clash, with the 22-year-old currently nursing a muscle injury that is likely to keep him sidelined.

Kayserispor will head into this clash without 30-year-old midfielder Sazdagi, as he is suspended after receiving a red card in their last match.

The visitors have had five different scorers this season, and one of them is Duckens Nazon, who is expected to lead the line once again.

Goztepe SK possible starting lineup:

Liz; Altikardes, Heliton, Bokele; Sangare, Dennis, Solet, Silva; Tijanic; Cardoso, Juan

Kayserispor possible starting lineup:

Piri; Kocaman, Jeanvier, Attamah, Carole; Kaldirim, Yılmaz, Bourabia; Boa Morte, Cardoso; Nazon

We say: Goztepe SK 1-0 Kayserispor

Goztepe have demonstrated resilience in the opening four matches and were finally rewarded with a victory in their last match, which could leave them brimming with confidence.
