Los Angeles FC waited for their game against Nashville to hand their new 'prodigal son' his debut.
Gareth Bale took to the field for the first time in the MLS, in what represents the start of an exciting time ahead for LAFC fans.
Steve Cherundolo gave the Welshman around 20 minutes on the pitch with the 'Cardiff Express' coming on in place of Cristian 'Chicho' Arango, who scored the visitors' opening goal in their 2-1 win.
Bale was provided the freedom to move around the attacking area, with the player oscillating between the centre of the attack and on the right flank, a position he regularly occupied during his time at Real Madrid.
While he was only brought on for the last part of the match, Bale's influence was felt.
A back-heeled touch, provided a sample of what the player has to offer his new club in a season where the Californians are one of the favourites to win the MLS Cup.

Bale was also finally smiling after a troubled end to his Real Madrid career.
While he was instrumental in helping Madrid secure La Decima and La Decimotercera, Bale ultimately failed to win the full confidence of either current coach Carlo Ancelotti or his predecessor Zinedine Zidane.
Speaking after the game Bale stated that he was happy to play his part in the team' success.
"It was good to have minutes and, more importantly, to get the three points. We're happy," Bale said post match.
"The most important thing today is that we all fought until the last minute and got the three points."
Despite being 33, Bale is still passionate about the game and has already stated that he is not in the United States to relax.
The winger will play his first World Cup with Wales at the end of the year and aims to be in the best possible shape for the tournament.
Los Angeles are already looking forward to Bale's second game, which will be his debut at the Banc of California Stadium.
The game will take place against the Seattle Sounders, who are the current holders of the CONCACAF Champions League.
