Official: Ibrahimovic signs one-year contract with Milan... with a huge pay cut

Zlatan Ibrahimovic's career seems to have no end in sight. The Swedish striker has officially renewed his contract with Serie A side AC Milan for another season, though with the caveat of taking a considerable pay cut.

Ibrahimovic was paid around seven million euros, with incentives, last season, with most of the amount coming from goal bonuses.

However, with his latest renewal, the Swede will receive no more than one million euros fixed, although that amount could increase based on a goals and assist clause.

Ibrahimovic played 23 games for Milan last season, scoring eight goals and providing three assists as the Rossoneri won the Scudetto for the first time in over a decade.

In addition, Ibrahimovic also served as de-facto captain of the club.

"AC Milan is pleased to announce the renewal of Zlatan Ibrahimovic's contract until June 30, 2023. The Swedish forward will continue to wear the number 11 shirt," a club statement read.

Serious knee injury

Ibrahimovic injured his left knee on May 25 with the injury requiring him to undergo surgery.

The Swedish giant, however, decided to wait until the end of the season to undergo surgery and is expected to return sometime during the beginning of 2023.
