New Paris Saint-Germain coach Christophe Galtier has picked Gianluigi Donnarumma as his first choice goalkeeper, a decision that has left Keylor Navas' future in doubt.
The Italian joined the French giants on a free transfer from AC Milan last summer, with the duo splitting duties last season.
That's set to change according to L'Equipe, with the publication stating Galtier and new football advisor Luis Campos are ready to bet on Donnarumma given he is 23, while Navas will turn 36 in December.
They alternated last season
Last season the duo alternated under Mauricio Pochettino, with neither becoming the clear starter. Navas made 26 appearances compared to Donnarumma's 23.
During Galtier's introductory press conference on Tuesday, he stated he wants a clear starter, though he did add the backup could become the No.1 based on performance.
The French giants believe Donnarumma should be that starter, though they want him to improve certain facets of his game.
For example, the club don't want to see similar mistakes to the one made during Real Madrid's 3-1 comeback win in the Champions League in which he lost the ball to Karim Benzema.
Difficult to find a new club for Navas
The problem now facing PSG is finding a new club for Navas. The Costa Rican still has two years remaining on his contract and earns 12 million euros gross a season. He's also previously stated that his family are settled in Paris.
Add in a transfer value of roughly 10 million euros, and it may not be easy to do away with the 35-year-old.
Along with Navas, L'Equipe also gave an update on Presnel Kimpembe's situation, stating that PSG would be willing to let him go should a suitable offer come in.
The 26-year-old, who has been at PSG since the age of 10, is attracting interest from Chelsea as the London club look to replace Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.
PSG have been in talks with Inter for defender Milan Skriniar for some time, though a deal hasn't been finalized due to the high demands of the Italian side.
