Tributes have been paid to former Partick Thistle and Ross County star Adam Strachan after he passed away at the age of 35.
A product of the Thistle academy, he made his debut at the age of 16 and was man-of-the-match against Livingston. The former midfielder made a further 73 appearances for the Scottish Premiership outfit before falling out of contention and he left by mutual consent in December 2007.
He went on to sign for Ross County and was a key player for the Dingwall outfit in the Second and First Division.
Strachan went on to then have a journeyman career in the Scottish lower leagues with spells with the likes of Dumbarton, Clyde, Arbroath and Clydebank.
The midfielder was forced to retire from the game in October 2018 with BSC Glasgow having suffered a horrendous ankle injury in a match with Whitehill Welfare.
Ross County penned a statement following confirmation of Strachan's passing. It read: "Ross County are sad to learn of the passing of former player Adam Strachan. Adam spent two seasons in Dingwall making over 50 appearances. Our thoughts are with Adam's family, friends and loved ones at this time."
In the meantime, Open Goal Broomhill - formerly BSC Glasgow - also released a statement having been Strachan's final senior club of his career.
"We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former player, Adam Strachan. Our thoughts are with Adam's family and friends at this difficult time," it read.
Former teammates of Strachan have also been playing tribute to the ex-midfielder, alongside his former clubs.
Former Falkirk defender Tam Scobbie said: "Guy had massive talent but an even bigger, infectious personality. Thoughts and prayers go out to Adam's family and friends at this difficult time."
Sean Winter, who was a team-mate of Strachan's at East Kilbride also paid tribute. He said: "Can't believe the news I'm hearing about Adam Strachan. Absolutely gutted at this. The guy was seriously misunderstood and one of the best players I ever played with."
Another former colleague of Strachan, David Winters, said: "RIP my friend. Single-handedly the funniest boy I've ever met in football, also one of the most talented players I've ever had the pleasure to play with.
"Kind of guy who walks into a room and makes everyone smile. Rest easy, my brother. I will miss you."
