But Burns struck a delicious strike just after the hour mark to see the match go 2-2 with the home fans in fine voice.
That included pop artist Sheeran, who is a huge Ipswich fan and among the Portman Road cohort and was spotted celebrating ecstatically.
The Bad Habits singer grabbed the nearest person to him and shook them in jubilation with Ipswich flying high in the Championship.

Nathan Broadhead had put Ipswich a goal ahead before Rowe struck just before half-time.
The Norwich star then grabbed his second of the match after capitalising from a long throw to give the away fans an almighty cheer.
But Burns' brilliant hit saw the scores levelled once again in what has been a classic encounter between the two Anglian teams.
There are often fireworks when the two sides meet and their last match ended with Paul Lambert getting sent off in 2019.

They are even contending for the Championship title with hot favourites Leicester while many expected their rivals Norwich to be in that position.
