The Argentine superstar has confirmed his intention to join Inter Miami this summer following the end of his Paris Saint-Germain deal, rejecting moves to Barcelona and Saudi Arabia at the same time.
The 35-year-old now looks set to play out the final years of his career in the MLS, bringing an end to his association with European football.
A move to Saudi Arabia would have seen a reunion of sorts with Ronaldo, who traded life in Europe for a move to Al-Nassr in January, something that Morgan believes attracted criticism of the former Manchester United star.
Taking to Twitter, Morgan wrote: "So, Messi quits elite football at 35, three years earlier than Ronaldo.
"Presumably, we'll now read/hear all the same scathing, mocking pieces by sportswriters/pundits that they wrote/said about Cristiano - right? (Spoiler alert: we won't.)"

Morgan is one of Ronaldo's biggest fans following his blockbuster interview with the star last year, however football fans weren't too happy with the way that the Portuguese star was used as a comparison to mock Messi's move to Miami.
Responding to Morgan's tweet, one fan wrote: "Messi completed football the moment he lifted the World Cup in December Piers mate."
Another said: "Messi is 2 weeks away from 36 and he's just won everything he achieved. He's a world champion."
Another tweeted: "No. Because he is the best ever," while another said: "Don't forget he won the World Cup with 3 years less as well."
