Frankfurt kick-started their season with a 3-2 win at VfB Stuttgart on Matchday 21, keeping them among a pack of clubs pursuing European football next season in what promises to be one of the tightest races on record. With that in mind, back-to-back wins will be Oliver Glasner's priority as he prepares to welcome his former club to the Deutsche Bank Park. Filip Kostic has recovered from a bout of flu and the man who has provided seven assists so far this season is set to be restored on the left wing, while Djibril Sow is also now back in full training and should come back into the midfield, where captain Sebastian Rode is also expected to start. There remains a question mark over the fitness of Daichi Kamada, who missed the Stuttgart game with a thigh strain, with Ajdin Hrustic on standby.
Last weekend, the Wolves ended an 11-game winless streak to avoid the ignominy of going a club record 13 games without a win, with winter recruits Kruse and Jonas Wind making an immediate impression. The greatest impact in that 4-1 win over Greuther Fürth came, however, from Aster Vranckx, the Belgian netting his first goals in German football. He was ably supported by Renato Steffen on the left wing and both should keep their places again, with Wind starting up top and Kruse - who is looking to open his account for the Wolves in this, his second spell with the club - keen to continue his excellent scoring record against the Eagles. No changes are expected from the side which beat Fürth, although Micky van de Ven is out for this game and potentially the rest of the season with a thigh injury.
Match stats
Eintracht winger Filip Kostic has three goals and seven assists in this season's Bundesliga. Only Rafael Borre (six goals, four assists) has been directly involved in as many goals for Oliver Glasner's team.
Despite missing two of the last three games, Kostic still tops the league for crosses (122).
The Eagles have more away wins (five) than home victories (three) in the current campaign, also losing their last two at Deutsche Bank Park.
Wolfsburg forward Max Kruse has scored in his last three matches against Eintracht. He struck five times against them in three games for Union Berlin, but never ended on the winning side (D1, L2).
The Wolves have won four of their five last away games against Eintracht in the Bundesliga - although they lost the most recent 4-3. Their nine wins in Frankfurt is the most they have away at any current top-flight team.
Florian Kohfeldt's team have, however, lost their last four away games in the Bundesliga without scoring a goal.
