Egypt's FA accuse Senegal of racism after Salah lasers and say bus was attacked

Egypt's Mohamed Salah was targeted with numerous lasers before missing a crucial penalty in the shootout, while Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane converted his spot-kick to send Senegal to the World Cup.

Besides the lasers, the Egyptian FA also claims their team bus was attacked with rocks and bottles before the match, attaching images on its Instagram page as 'proof'.

A statement said: "The Egypt national team have been exposed to racism with offensive signs in the stands against the Egyptian players in general, and Mohamed Salah in particular.

"The crowd also intimidated the players by throwing bottles and rocks on them during the warm-up. The Egyptian group's busses have also been exposed to assaults that led to broken windows and injuries; filed with pictures and videos as proof in the complaint submitted."

talkSPORT hosts reacted with shock to the images of multiple green lasers being shone in Salah's face before his decisive miss.

With questions about the outcome of the match sure to follow, Rangers legend Ally McCoist insists the shootout should've been stopped.

He told talkSPORT's Breakfast Show: "It's shocking. The amount of laser lights flashing in his face is scandalous.

"You can't see his face! They should've stopped it immediately. It's unfair, isn't it?

"Having a crowd booing you is one thing, you can accept that and say it's part and parcel of the game.

"But that's clearly out of order. You can shut off your mind to boos, but having those lasers shining in your face, that's completely out of order."

Meanwhile, Jason Cundy initially thought images of Salah on social media had been edited, before realising the true extent of the laser treatment.

Cundy said on the Sports Bar: "When I saw a photograph on social media, I thought it was doctored and someone had drawn more green on his face.

"Then you see the footage - it is shocking! You might have to consider, if it becomes a problem, you might have to just take penalties in front of your own fans.

"You can't have that and it feels impossible to stop. How were there so many of them?

"He looked like the Incredible Hulk! It's not fair and it's not on."
