EFL fixtures announced with Leeds vs Cardiff on opening weekend

Of the 24 Championship clubs in the second tier, 19 are former Premier League sides, making it one of the toughest in recent seasons.

Wednesday, promoted via the League One play-offs last term, will have a new manager in the dugout after the surprise decision to part ways with Darren Moore.

Southampton, who finished bottom of the Premier League in May after 11 years in the top-flight, will also have a new boss with Russell Martin taking the helm this week.

Of the other sides relegated from the Premier League last term, Leicester host Coventry and Leeds take on Cardiff at Elland Road.

Another huge Championship clash sees Ipswich, who scored 101 goals in League One last season to earn automatic promotion, travel to Sunderland.

Two other Premier League sides clash in League One on the opening weekend as Derby host Wigan, who begin the season on minus eight points for the financial mess they have found themselves in.
