"Do I need to tell you again?!" Klopp snaps back at Liverpool transfer question

Jurgen Klopp cut a frustrated figure during his latest Liverpool press conference after being probed about any more transfers that the Reds could make throughout the January transfer window

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp gave a withering answer to a question regarding incoming transfers at Anfield having criticised the "dreamland" of the January window.

The Merseyside outfit have endured a hugely testing campaign throughout the current season and are embroiled in a battle to get back into the Champions League just a few months after reaching the final in the competition. One solution put to the German schemer was to turn to the transfer market - the January window currently being open.

Liverpool have already been busy with t he £37m arrival of Dutch forward Cody Gakpo and remain linked with a clutch of further signings, with Fiorentina star Sofyan Ambrabat among those to have been linked following his eye-catching World Cup.

Asked if there could be more incomings during his pre-Brighton press conference, Klopp got visibly frustrated. He replied: "I've had 6000 press conferences at Liverpool, I have to tell you again the money story?

"Why could it be the reason we have money like crazy and we still don't buy players? You know the answer!"

"It's not that we have so much money we don't know what to do with but we think 'ah we don't need anyone'. It's just not that easy, we cannot sort the problems [in the window] with injuries."

Klopp instead chose to focus on the players he already has at his disposal at Anfield and claimed that it wasn't as simple as just signing a new player. He added: "I don't think so [more January signings].

I talk about it because you ask but my job is to use the boys we have. No problem. I like the teams who line up.

"We cannot solve all problems in the transfer market. In a dreamland you just buy players."

Liverpool's problems were worsened ahead of their trip to the AMEX Stadium to face Brighton with Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez having missed training due to injury. The former Benfica star was one of the club's lucrative signings in the summer having arrived for a potential club record fee.

Despite the 23-year-old's indifferent form this term since arriving, he would likely have led the line for the Reds against the Seagulls but now joins the likes of Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz on the sidelines.

Liverpool's only arrival of the window thus far Gakpo is expected to start his debut Premier League match on the South Coast. The 23-year-old made his Reds' bow last time in the dramatic FA Cup draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers but failed to get on the scoresheet.
