Cristiano Ronaldo's timing is right: He doesn't deserve an ending like this

Jose Felix Diaz gives his opinion on Cristiano Ronaldo

Lionel Messi (35 years old) and Cristiano Ronaldo (37) came into this world to make those of us who enjoy this sport called football a little bit happier.

Both have played the game to the maximum. They have watched and observed each other from a distance, and made each other better. At times they gave us the sensation of them being immortal, but something is going wrong, especially with the Portuguese.

Messi has found a far from happy refuge at Paris Saint-Germain while waiting for the World Cup in Qatar. Although now he would like to return to Barcelona, a city he never wanted to leave, he knows this is impossible due to the presence of Joan Laporta who is the president of the Catalan club.

Ronaldo on the other hand can't find a place to stay, nor a place that is good enough for him to continue increasing his record and feeding his ego, which at times causes him more problems than benefits.

Of course, we have to recognise that this competitive spirit has led him to be the best at certain times, but always dressed in the white of Real Madrid.

Endless offers

Now he is looking for a team, as he did last year. Neither Juventus nor Manchester United have met to his expectations. He can't stand having to listen to the Champions League anthem on television.

He is the top scorer, the player who has played the most games and is fighting to equal the six European Cups of Paco Gento. That is why he is looking for a club, hence his agent is offering him and his name is even among the endless carousel of surnames related to Barcelona. Something similar to what happened a year ago with Real Madrid. He deserves much more.

Ronaldo has no need to be offered. His football and class should be enough for him to continue enjoying his career, but he can't find a way to be happy playing football.

His last three experiences have not ended well, but he wants more, regardless of the fact that football is a sport that demands the maximum while lacking in memory.

His record is to be admired, but his missteps go against him and the figure he has been in football.

The two greatest figures of modern football deserve to bow out in style. They dream of the World Cup, a title they have not won and are seven games away from doing.

It should be their last great exhibition, to then enjoy football in another way, a much more pleasant way.

The records are already yours, the football, too. Don't spoil it and don't forget that time passes. For all of us.
