Spurs recovered from a damaging 1-0 defeat to Burnley to thrash Leeds, with Harry Kane the star of the show.
Conte looked on the brink of leaving Spurs following the loss to Burnley February 23rd, exclusively telling talkSPORT, 'It's not right to continue this way', before asking the club to make an 'assessment' on his future.
The Italian later apologised for his remarks, saying it was down to the fact he doesn't like to lose, and his players have since responded with a fine display.
Matt Doherty opened the scoring, while Kane and January loan signing Dejan Kulusevski both scored excellent goals before Heung-min Son finished off a sublime Kane pass to give them the Premier League record for players to assist each other.
Conte wasn't only happy with the performance, but also the fight his side showed against a 'strong' team.
"For sure it was important, it was important to have a really good performance," Conte said.
"It was important to score four goals to have another clean sheet, but especially to show an important desire to fight, and important desire to win, to get three points, because from the start to the end we showed this.
"I'm pleased for my players, I asked [for] an answer and character aspect to my players and today I had great answer from my players.
"They know very well that it has to be a starting point for us to try to continue to improve in all aspects. In a football aspect but also in the spirit, in the desire, in the will to fight, in the will to win the duels.
"Today it can be easy to win 4-0 against Leeds but this is a team that is very strong especially because they put pressure, a lot of pressure, they are very good to win the duels and they are strong physically and to have this type of performance has to give us confidence.
"Not only on the football aspect but especially under character because I think we can improve a lot in this aspect and if we improve in this aspect we can have a big improvement from now until the end of the season."
The five-time league winner in Italy and England also talked about what he wants to see from his players for the remainder of the season.
Asked whether the improvements will help to keep him at the club, Conte responded: "Of course. I think in four months there are a lot of situations, and the first I want to see is that my team continues to improve in different aspects.
"If my team continue to improve in many aspects and make me also more happy, and make me more sure that the gap between us and the other is not so far it will be very important to continue to improve and to work together and show this unity.
"I have another year on my contract and I'm enjoying my time here in Tottenham with this group of players, for sure we have to improve a lot and reduce the gap because the gap now is an important gap.
"We have three, four months to reduce the gap and then to understand if with the right signs we can be competitive and fight to win something next season."
