Chelsea and Cucurella agreement: Transfer will cost more than 50m euros

Marc Cucurella only needed 35 Premier League games and just three in the English cups to increase his value threefold from the 18 million euros that Brighton paid Getafe in August 2021.

Chelsea now plan to pay 50m euros to sign him this summer. However, they were not the first team to enquire about Cucurella this summer.

As Fabrizio Romano has been reporting and as MARCA confirmed a few weeks ago, the first team to show a strong interest in Cucurella was Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.

The Catalan coach wanted him to replace Oleksandr Zinchenko - who has been transferred to Arsenal - but they haven't been able to meet his price tag and it seems that Joao Cancelo will be the left-back at the English champions.

As Romano reported on Tuesday morning, Cucurella has agreed personal terms with Chelsea and now all that remains is for the two clubs to finalise the deal.

As the Daily Mail adds, Chelsea will improve on City's offer and also seem willing to include Levi Colwill, the 19-year-old England U21 international, in the deal.

Chelsea continue their busy transfer window

Chelsea's new era is off to a strong start. If first it was Raheem Sterling and then Kalidou Koulibaly, now it's Cucurella's turn.

If the predictions come true, Chelsea will have spent more than 140m euros on three players and it doesn't look like the market will end here.

Tuchel's side are offloading players such as Kepa Arrizabalaga, Timo Werner and Malang Sarr, as well as the more than possible departure of Marcos Alonso to Barcelona.

In terms of potential arrivals, Inter's Denzel Dumfries and RB Leipzig's Josko Gvardiol are new targets.
