The former Red Devils defender made a few surprise decisions, which also appeared to place club legend Cristiano Ronaldo on the left wing of a front three.
During a Twitter Q&A with fans, Neville was asked to name his Man United XI in the case of everyone being fit.
Ronaldo was selected alongside Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani up front.
In midfield, Neville picked Bruno Fernandes in the no.10 role, with Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay behind the Portuguese.
Meanwhile, David de Gea started in goal and the back four was made up of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw.
Neville's selections have caused some controversy with fellow Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher among those to criticise.
Carragher was shocked to see Ronaldo out wide and no place for £73million man Sancho, while also rebuking him for previous comments on Monday Night Football suggesting Pogba could play as a left midfielder.
Quote tweeting Neville's XI, Carragher said: "So is Pogba not a left winger anymore @GNev2 [head in hand emoji].
"The right winger you said the club were desperate for doesn't play [eyebrow emoji]. And you've got Ronaldo out wide [shoulder shrug emoji].
"Ossie Ardiles wouldn't pick that team [laughing emojis].
Neville wasn't about to sit back and take Carragher's pointers though, replying: "Just having fun with the fans, James."
