Burnley vs West Ham LIVE: Kompany aiming to end struggles against Hammers

The Clarets have lost 10 of their opening 12 games this season and they sit at the bottom of the table, below Everton who have been deducted 10 points.

Vinceny Kompany's side have also only scored nine goals while conceding 30, with the step up from the Championship proving to be too much.

They now take on David Moyes' Hammers who bounced back from three straight losses to beat Nottingham Forest before the international break.

Burnley have lost all six games at Turf Moor in the Premier League this season.

If they are to lose again this weekend, they would become only the second team in English league history to lose their first seven home games of a campaign.

The Clarets would be the first team to do so since Newport County over 50 years ago in the old fourth division.

It is a record that Kompany will not want during his first stint as a top-flight boss.

Burnley's only Premier League win so far this season was at fellow promoted side Luton Town in October. They've lost each of their last five since then but haven't lost six consecutive top-flight matches since December 1895.

West Ham have won their last seven Premier League games against promoted sides - their longest such run in the competition - while they've also won their last 10 against sides starting the day bottom of the table.

Burnley could see the return of Hjalmar Ekdal who has not played for the club since August.

Manuel Benson is also getting closer to a comeback after not featuring in two months.

The Clarets will remain without Lyle Foster who is taking time away from football to focus on treating his mental health.

As for West Ham, they are set to be without star man Jarrod Bowen.

talkSPORT understands that Bowen's knee injury will be assessed by a specialist after he was sent home from international duty with England.

Michail Antonio also picked up a knee issue with Jamaica and he could be sidelined for a while.

Midfielder Tomas Soucek was left bloodied while playing for Czech Republic but he should be fit to feature, possibly wearing a bandage on his head.

West Ham United's James Ward-Prowse has more assists than any other Premier League player in all competitions this season (9). Five of those have come in 11 appearances in the Premier League, six games quicker than any other Hammers player has reached five assists in the competition (17, Paolo Di Canio).

Only Enzo Fernández (21) has had more shots without scoring so far this season than Burnley's Luca Koleosho (18). His 18 attempts have an xG value of 1.5, though just three of them have been on target.

West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola is enjoying playing in the Premier League and Europa League this season.

He told the Hammers' website: "It's what we want, play every week in Europe and in the cups as well as the league.

"If we can go, like last season, until the very end, then we'll fight for everything and be ready for it.

"We'll prepare our bodies and there's a lot that's in our heads too, so we'll fight for all of it.

"We've done a great job so far this season. We have to keep that going now.

"We need to be ready now, in our minds, and the body will follow."

Burnley are winless in their last four Premier League meetings with West Ham (D2 L2), with the last two games in 2021-22 both ending in draws.

West Ham have lost seven of their last 10 Premier League away games (W2 D1), conceding at least twice in each defeat. Indeed, since the start of last season only Nottingham Forest (18) have lost more Premier League away games than the Hammers (16).
