Braithwaite: I've played more in these four games with Denmark than with Barcelona

Martin Braithwaite has put a tough, injury-marred season behind him.

Despite playing only a few minutes with Barcelona, Denmark called him up for the Nations League matches in June and he has enjoyed a starring role.

The striker, who is now on holiday, has been grateful for the confidence shown by coach Kasper Hjulmand.

"I've played more in these four games than in the whole season there [at Barcelona]," Braithwaite told TV 2 SPORT.

"It's been fantastic and I'm very happy with the confidence Kasper has given me.

"I was well aware that I couldn't count on coming in and starting every game, but I knew that in training and in the limited minutes I had, I had to convince Hjulmand that I was fit.

"I feel that I have shown that I am strong, that I am myself and that I have recovered from my injury.

"I am insanely happy, and insanely grateful for the trust they [Denmark's coaching staff] have given me.

"It's been great to be back after not being here since the European Championship.

"I'm proud to be back and to be able to help the team again."

Not counted on by Xavi

Braithwaite is one of the players that Barcelona have in the departure lounge.

The striker already knows that he is not in Xavi's plans and that, if he wants to play, he will have to look for a new destination.

The main problem is that Barcelona want to put him on the market and get a financial return.

However, the player is only willing to leave if he is available for free.

The striker started the season playing and even scoring, but an unfortunate knee injury forced him to undergo surgery in mid-September.

After being cleared to play again, he only took part in a couple of matches and only played a few minutes.
