And some still rated Hodgson's technique, with one Twitter user writing: "Roy Hodgson with a better first touch than [Romelu] Lukaku."
Meanwhile, match commentator Glenn Hoddle said: "Gotta work on that first touch Roy."
Luckily for Palace fans, it wasn't the only moment they were able to cheer during the first half, which ended up being a goal-fest.
After Tomas Soucek's early opener, Palace hit three in 15 minutes through Jordan Ayew, Wilfred Zaha and Jeffrey Schlupp.

Michel Antonio then pulled one back before the break, making sure there was everything to play for in the second 45 minutes.
