At just 19 years old, Bellingham had thrilled in central midfield, scored his first international goal, and dominated opponents.
Hype around the player was already high ahead of the tournament with Liverpool and Real Madrid two of the frontrunners for a potential transfer in the summer.
In October, there were reports a fee of £87million could be enough to win the race for his signature.

Now, though, it's unlikely Bundesliga side Dortmund would settle for anything under £100m give his mature performances in Qatar.
And this belief is held by former Premier League star Tony Cascarino, despite it being at the expense of Liverpool, the club he supports.
He told the Weekend Sports Breakfast: "This kid has got the world at his feet.

"He seems so smart that I can't imagine somewhere along the way he doesn't win something major, like a Euros or a World Cup.
"He's got something that is very rare and that's a humbleness about him, plus being smart.
"He's had a terrific tournament. He's become the talk [of it].
"I've hated it because I'm thinking Liverpool can't buy him now because no one is going to be able to buy him. He's going to go into that bracket of too expensive."

Bellingham himself believes he can get one of those major trophies.
He was understandably emotional at full-time in Qatar, but gave an honest insight into his feelings when the whistle went.
He said: "The overriding feeling is disappointment because of the way we've gone out. But the memories that will live with me in terms of the learning in training and the games, playing against certain opponents - it's invaluable how much I've taken from this camp and from the tournament.

"If there's one feeling that I got after the defeat and in that moment when I couldn't keep my emotions to myself, it was: I've got to get one.
"Whether it's the World Cup or Euros, the mentality for me is I've got to get one."
