The Catalan outfit have been rocked by the news that their number one goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen will be out for the remainder of the season with the knee injury that he suffered against Villarreal last time out.
As a result, Inaki Pena is set to start between the sticks on Thursday, while Barcelona are missing seven more first-team players for their seventh La Liga game of the season.
Marc Bernal, Gavi, Frenkie de Jong, Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen, Dani Olmo and Fermin Lopez are also unavailable for the Catalan outfit, who are top of the La Liga table on 18 points from six matches.
De Jong, Olmo among those unavailable for Barcelona
The injury problems in the squad once again mean that there are spots for the likes of Toni Fernandez and Guillermo, while Pedri and Marc Casado are fit despite missing training on Wednesday night.
Ferran Torres is also available after missing out against Villarreal due to a one-game suspension.
"We will have to do things differently and adapt to the opponent. We have prepared a plan and we hope to be able to carry it out tomorrow," Barcelona boss Hansi Flick told reporters during his pre-match press conference.
"We watched and analysed the game against Villarreal and we saw things that could be improved. We're not at the end of the road yet, there's always room for improvement."
Barcelona have been near-perfect in La Liga this season, winning all six of their matches, scoring 22 times, which is the best attacking record by a distance, while they have conceded just five.
