The Arsenal duo attracted attention during the 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest when embroiled in a heated post-match exchange in which the pair had to be separated by Declan Rice and set piece coach Nicolas Jover.
Arteta played down the dispute ahead of the weekend's clash with Liverpool joking the duo are currently living together.
"They've been in the same house the past few days sharing wives and everything," Arteta said laughing as he attempted to tell media and fans there is nothing to the row.
"It's fine they're living together now. They're best mates.
"You don't argue with someone if you don't have a great relationship.

Arguments among teammates desperate to win is nothing new, which Arteta acknowledged. He added: "That happens because you have the trust and chemistry with somebody to react the way they did."
Arsenal will be hoping to follow up on their victory over Nottingham Forest with a win over Liverpool this weekend.
Victory over Jurgen Klopp's side will see them close the gap on the league leaders to just two points.
However they have suffered a fresh injury blow with Thomas Partey suffering a setback that will rule him out of the clash.
