Arsenal fans in love with leaked third kit in throwback to iconic away strip

The north London club could be about to bring back the 2007-2009 third kit colours after a potential design was leaked online.

It was released by website Footy Headlines, which has an impressive track record for being bang on the money when it comes to future kit designs.

The design features a white base kit with maroon and gold detailing, as the Gunners looking to tap into the 'bloke core' fashion craze.

"I would buy it immediately," said one fan on X.

Another posted: "Very happy with the return of this colour scheme. I've been patiently waiting for years."

Football kits have become increasingly popular as casual attire in recent years, with many opting to wear them socially with jeans.

This time around, the sponsor will be Adidas and not Nike, and the reported design features an adidas originals logo along with a neck collar.

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry famously featured in a photoshoot for the 2007-2009 kit - but never wore it due to his Barcelona transfer.

Instead, Gunners fans are more likely to remember it being worn by the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Theo Walcott.

It is not the first time the Gunners have brought back a retro design.

In 2019, Arsenal released their remake of the banana 1991-93 away shirt, which was worn by icons such as Ian Wright, Ray Parlour and Kevin Campbell.

Arsenal have been previously criticised by fans and also rival supporters for releasing too many kits and merchandise.

On the pitch, they are currently nine points behind league leaders Liverpool, following significant losses to Bournemouth and Newcastle.

Mikel Arteta may be feeling the pressure in his third season competing for the title as fans are hungry for their first major trophy since 2004.

Fans are hoping the team can turn it around after the international break and go on a run similar to last season, where they narrowly missed out on the Premier League title.
