Arsenal 'face transfer battle' with AC Milan for Dutch hitman Noa Lang

Arsenal are facing competition from AC Milan to sign Club Brugge hotshot Noa Lang, according to reports in the forward's native Netherlands.

Lang, 22, has scored four goals for Brugge this season while also chipping in with the same number of assists.

The Dutchman is well-versed either as a centre-forward or on the left wing and helped the Belgian club hold Paris Saint-Germain to a 1-1 draw in the Champions League earlier this month.

Lang only joined Brugge on an initial loan with an obligation to buy last October, but he may be on the move again soon amid interest from Europe's heavyweights.

The latest reports suggest Arsenal are leading the race for Lang, with Voetbal24 claiming the player would prefer to join the Gunners over Milan.

The Dutch outlet adds Lang is rated at £20million having completed his permanent signing to Brugge this summer for a bargain sum of £5.4million.

Arsenal's Premier League rivals Leeds United are also believed to be monitoring the situation, while Sevilla are keen to bring Lang to La Liga.

A product of Ajax's famed academy, Lang provided a glimpse of his great potential last season as he picked up 22 goals or assists in 24 Pro League games to fire Brugge to the title.

He was tipped for greatness after scoring a hat-trick on his league debut for Ajax in 2019, becoming the first player in 60 years to achieve the feat for the Amsterdam giants.

"He showed (his talent) today and I am very happy with that," said Ajax boss Erik ten Hag of Lang at the time.

"Noa shows [his ability] it during training and during the reserve matches. And today he has also clearly shown it at the highest level too."

Arsenal's links with Lang come at a time of uncertainty surrounding Alexandre Lacazette, who is out of contract in less than 10 months.

Recent reports claimed the Gunners No.9 is open to leaving next summer after five years of service at the Emirates, with Atletico Madrid in pole position to pull off a free transfer.

Mikel Arteta was tight-lipped over Lacazette's future as he spoke earlier this month, insisting the Frenchman remains "instrumental" to his plans.

"No, he's fully involved," said the Gunners boss in response to claims Lacazette is surplus to requirements.

"You give the reasons why he hasn't played more minutes and he will be back to the form that he can achieve. I am sure that he will be instrumental in our success."
