Arsenal star Lucas Torreira has slammed Fiorentina for "acting in a bad way" after his permanent move to the Serie A club collapsed.
The Uruguayan spent last season on loan at La Viola, impressing in midfield as they claimed a place in the Europa Conference League. Fiorentina had a clause in the loan deal that meant that they could bring him back to the Artemio Franchi Stadium for £12.5million.
That is an option that they have failed to pick up though, instead attempting to negotiate for a lower fee. The Gunners were reticent to sanction such a deal, with the move now collapsing, after Fiorentina refused to pay the higher price.
The news will be a disappointment to Torreira, who had become a key player under Vincenzo Italiano. He made 35 appearances in all competitions in defensive midfield, scoring five goals in total.
And Torreira has now made his anger over the collapse of his permanent move abundantly clear by launching a furious rant on Instagram. Torreira singled out Fiorentina in particular for their part in the failed transfer deal.
"Dear "Tifosi" from ACF Fiorentina. Unfortunately, the time has come to say goodbye. It is with great sadness that my relationship with ACF Fiorentina ends. Club that gave me so much love and support all this time. From the beginning they made me feel at home," he wrote.

"I discovered a wonderful city that was always kind to me, both on and off the pitch. They always showed me affection, respect and for that, I will always be grateful. Thanks to his trust I was able to find the continuity and level I wanted. I owe that to my teammates and all the fans who gave us energy game by game.
"Know that I always left everything on the field of play for these colours. Special thanks to all the club staff; cooks, props, manager, physiotherapist and security. They are the fundamental piece for the functioning of this institution.
"Know that I did my best to continue being part of this club, but unfortunately there were those who, acting in a bad way, according to my understanding, managed to prevent this from happening and that is why I have to leave. I wish you the best for the future. They will have one more fan cheering from wherever I have to be."
Torreira will now head back to the Emirates, with his contract at Arsenal having another year left to run. Mikel Arteta will likely look to move him on this summer, with the Uruguayan not thought to be a part of his plans, despite his successful time at Fiorentina.
A move to Serie A would appear to be the most likely destination, given that Italy is where he has enjoyed the most successful times of his career. The Gunners will have to sell him for a cut-price fee or send him out on loan if they do want him to leave, given his current contract status.
