Adrian Rus

Adrian Rus (Hungarian: Rus Adrian; born 18 March 1996) is a Romanian professional footballer who plays as a defender for NB I side Fehervar and the Romania national team.

Club Career

Rus started his career as junior with local team Olimpia Satu Mare, before moving in 2015 to Hungary where he played for Fehergyarmat, Balmazujvaros and Puskas Akademia. From Puskas Akademia, he was loaned to his native Romania with Sepsi OSK between 2018 and 2019. On 25 June 2019, Rus joined Fehervar.

International Career

Rus acquired Hungarian citizenship during his early spells in the country, making him eligible for the Hungary national team. In spite of that, he stated in an interview for the Romanian Football Federation that he is "100% Romanian" and desires to represent his country of birth.

He was selected in Romania's squad for the 2019 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, recording one appearance as his team was eliminated in the semi-finals by Germany. In August that year, Rus received his first call-up to the senior team, and started in an eventual 1–0 victory over Malta on 8 September.
