Zlatan's face sums up Milan's night as Inter gain Champions League advantage

Many anticipated a cagey affair in the first leg of the semi-final, but Inter were quick to stamp their mark.

Edin Dzeko scored with the first shot of the game, volleying into the top corner whilst holding off the strength of Davide Calabria from a corner.

It got even worse for Milan just moments later as Henrikh Mkhitaryan raced through their defence before slotting in to make it 2-0.

Inter were running riot, and Danny Mills was far from impressed with the defensive efforts from Milan on show.

Speaking to talkSPORT, the former England international said: "Wow. Wasn't expecting this in any way, shape or form.

"I was just about to talk about how the defence I thought maybe went a little bit missing for the first goal with Dzeko, there was no one really on the edge of the six-yard box to go and attack the ball.

"This time, where were the centre-halves, where were the holding midfield players? Mkhitaryan just ran through completely unopposed, far too easy for him, one on one with the goalkeeper, sat him down on his backside and just put it into an empty net.

"Outstanding from Inter, but incredibly disappointing [from Milan]."

Inter could very well have made it 3-0 just after the half hour mark as a penalty was awarded when Simon Kjaer was adjudged to have fouled Lautaro Martinez.

However, VAR came to Milan's rescue as the decision was overturned.

On the incident, Mills said: "I think there's a slight touch. The thing is he's done both players [Kjaer and Fikayo Tomori], he's in on goal. Why would he go down?"

Milan tried to respond to the Inter goals but ultimately fell short, with Sandro Tonali's shot off the post being the closest they came.

Inter were able to hold on to their 2-0 lead, which puts them in a great position ahead of next Tuesday's second leg.
