The treble is arguably the greatest feat an English football team can achieve and Manchester City are just two games away from doing it.

This is not something we have seen for a long time, but Pep Guardiola's men have already wrapped up the Premier League and are in the FA Cup and Champions League final.

If they come out victorious, this City team will be remembered as one of the best we have ever seen.

Who was the last team to win the treble?

In England, there is only one team to have ever won the classic treble, consisting of the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.

Manchester United's 1998/99 side is widely considered the greatest of the 20th century because of their incredible achievement.

Sir Alex Ferguson's men beat Arsenal to the league title by a single point.

They then faced Newcastle in the FA Cup final and comfortably won 2-0 thanks to goals from Paul Scholes and Teddy Sheringham.

Then just four days later, United faced Bayern Munich in the Champions League final in Barcelona.

The German giants opened the scoring in the sixth minute through Mario Basler.

Sheringham equalised in the 91st minute of normal time before Ole Gunnar Solskjaer then scored an iconic winner minutes later.

So if City were to do it, they would become just the second English side to win the official treble.

Outside of England, there have been six other clubs that have won the treble.

Barcelona, under Guardiola, earned the treble during the 2008/09 season before repeating the feat in 2015.

Bayern Munich have also done it twice in 2013 and 2020, respectively.

Celtic (1966/67), Ajax (1971/72), PSV (1987/88) and Inter Milan (2009/10) complete the limited list of clubs that have completed club football's biggest achievement.

And now Man City are just two games from joining this illustrious list and writing themselves into the history books forever.
