Wednesday's Championship predictions including Leeds vs. Millwall

sportsmole.co.uk, 12 March 2025, 06:05
Portsmouth vs. Plymouth (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Buoyed from beating leaders Leeds United at the weekend, Portsmouth will look to claim a second straight win when they welcome Plymouth Argyle to Fratton Park for Wednesday's Championship clash.

Meanwhile, basement side Plymouth will be desperate to clinch all three points after failing to win any of their last five league matches.

We say: Portsmouth 2-0 Plymouth Argyle

Portsmouth have made Fratton Park a fortress this season, while Plymouth have found life difficult on their travels, and with that in mind, we expect Pompey to continue their fine run of form by claiming a routine win in Wednesday's Championship fixture.

Watford vs. Swansea (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Watford play host to Swansea City in a meeting of two mid-table clubs at Vicarage Road in the Championship on Wednesday night.

This was a Premier League fixture as recently as 2017, but neither club looks equipped to take a shot at the playoff places in the final weeks of the season.

We say: Watford 2-1 Swansea City

Becoming accustomed to playing most Tuesdays and Wednesdays is important for any EFL club, but these two sides have struggled in that regard of late, both falling to defeat in their previous four midweek league games.

Something has to give here, and even though they were beaten on this pitch just four days ago, Watford will be the slight favourites and should be able to close the gap on the top six slightly.

Hull City vs. Oxford Utd (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Just two points separate Hull City and Oxford United ahead of Wednesday's Championship clash at the MKM Stadium.

The Tigers have lost just one of their previous five matches, while the U's have failed to win any of their last eight games.

We say: Hull City 1-1 Oxford United

Hull may have beaten Plymouth in their most recent outing at MKM Stadium, but that victory represented just their second win in 14 home league games, which is why we believe they may struggle to clinch all three points in Wednesday's fixture.

Leeds vs. Millwall (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Leeds United will look to maintain their place at the top of the Championship when they welcome Millwall to Elland Road for the second time in 2025.

Daniel Farke's side were knocked out of the FA Cup by the Lions last month and enter this fixture on the back of another surprising result at the weekend that has shaken up the promotion picture.

We say: Leeds United 3-1 Millwall

After a surprise defeat at the weekend, Leeds will be keen to make amends, especially if one or both of their automatic promotion rivals win a day earlier.

Millwall may have won in the cup here last month, but Leeds will field a stronger XI and there should be less complacency from the hosts, making this a distinctly tougher challenge for Neil's side.

Stoke vs. Blackburn (Wednesday, 8.00pm)

Playoff-chasing Blackburn Rovers will look to end a three-game winless run when they travel to the bet365 Stadium for Wednesday's Championship clash against Stoke City.

Like their opponents, relegation-threatened Stoke will also be desperate to claim all three points after failing to win any of their last four matches.

We say: Stoke City 1-1 Blackburn Rovers

Blackburn will be determined to get their playoff bid back on track by claiming all three points on Wednesday, but we think they will have to settle for a draw when they face a Stoke side that have lost just one of their previous six home league matches.
