Vinicius Junior update: Could Real Madrid superstar join Al-Ahli in biggest deal of all time?

sportsmole.co.uk, 29 December 2024, 08:47
Real Madrid are reportedly planning to offer Vinicius Junior a new and improved contract next summer, with Los Blancos determined to secure the forward's future amid firm interest from Saudi Arabia.

The 24-year-old has again been in excellent form for Real Madrid during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring 14 goals and registering 10 assists in 21 appearances in all competitions.

In total, the Brazilian has 97 goals and 83 assists in 285 matches for Los Blancos, developing into one of the leading players in world football over the last couple of seasons.

Vinicius' contract at Bernabeu is due to expire in June 2027, and he continues to be linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, with a number of clubs in the lucrative division said to be keen on his signature.

According to AS, Al-Ahli are willing to make Vinicius the best-paid footballer of all time, and the forward is said to be open to discussing a move to Saudi Arabia due to the incredible numbers involved.

Real Madrid 'aiming to sign Vinicius to new long-term deal'

However, the report claims that Vinicius' first choice is to remain at Bernabeu, and Real Madrid are planning to offer him a new and improved deal at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

Los Blancos are believed to be willing to bring his salary closer to the one collected by Kylian Mbappe, with the Frenchman becoming the club's highest earner when he arrived on a free transfer over the summer.

Vinicius is said to be happy in Madrid and feels that he can 'make history' with the current group of players despite some indifferent performances during the 2024-25 campaign.

There had been talk of Vinicius being moved from his left-sided attacking role due to the arrival of Mbappe, but the latter has instead been used through the middle, with mixed results thus far.

Could Vinicius make the move to Saudi Arabia?

Al-Ahli are said to be 'insisting' on signing Vinicius next summer, with the biggest deal in the history of football potentially being offered over the next five years, but it would be a surprise to see him move to the Saudi Pro League at this stage of this career.

There is a €1bn (£830m) release clause in Vinicius' Real Madrid deal, and the Spanish giants allegedly pointed to that figure when approached by Al-Ahli during the recent transfer window.

All of the signs are pointing towards the Brazilian penning a new long-term deal at Bernabeu, with Real Madrid understandably desperate not to lose one of the best players in world football.
