Nuno Espirito Santo will welcome back the 16 first-team players to his Tottenham Hotspur squad who have been representing their country during September's international break, as well as keeping an eye on young forward Troy Parrott who is currently out on loan with Ipswich Town.

Thirteen of those players were spread out across Europe, while Son Heung-min, Giovani Lo Celso, Cristian Romero and Davinson Sanchez were plying their trade in Asia and South America respectively.

Here, Sports Mole round up which Spurs players were in action for their respective nations and how they fared on international duty.

England: Harry Kane

Results:

September 2: Hungary 0-4 England - World Cup qualifier (Ferenc Puskas Stadium, Budapest)

September 5: England 4-0 Andorra - World Cup qualifier (Wembley Stadium, London)

September 8: Poland 1-1 England - World Cup qualifier (Stadion Narodowy, Warsaw)

Kane enjoyed his time in front of goal for the Three Lions this month, scoring in all three matches, taking his overall tally at international level to 41, just three strikes behind Tottenham legend Jimmy Greaves and 12 goals behind England's record goalscorer Wayne Rooney.

The 28-year-old started and scored England's second in Budapest, before coming off the bench to convert a penalty kick against Andorra.

Kane then started against Poland and scored an incredible goal from distance in the 72nd minute to give the Three Lions the lead, though they were unable to hold on as the hosts scored in stoppage time to end their 100% record in qualifying.

South Korea: Son Heung-min

Results:

September 2: South Korea 0-0 Iraq - World Cup qualifier (Sangam Stadium, Seoul)

September 7: South Korea 1-0 Lebanon - World Cup qualifier (Suwon World Cup Stadium, Suwon)

Son played the full 90 minutes in a goalless draw with Iraq but the forward did not feature against Lebanon as a precaution after picking up a minor calf problem in training.

The 29-year-old will now be assessed when he returns to London before seeing whether he can play this weekend against Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

Wales: Ben Davies, Joe Rodon

Results:

September 1: Finland 0-0 Wales - Friendly (Helsinki Olympic Stadium, Helsinki)

September 5: Belarus 2-3 Wales - World Cup qualifier (The Central Stadium, Kazan)

September 8: Wales 0-0 Estonia - World Cup qualifier (Cardiff City Stadium, Cardiff)

Davies came on as a half-time substitute in Helsinki, before playing the full 90 minutes at left-back against Belarus and Estonia.

As for Rodon, he was only called up to the squad on Monday following a period of rehabilitation and was an unused substitute for Wednesday's game in the Welsh capital.

France: Hugo Lloris

Results:

September 1: France 1-1 Bosnia & Herzegovina - World Cup qualifier (Stade de la Meinau, Strasbourg)

September 4: Ukraine 1-1 France - World Cup qualifier (NSC Olimpiyskiy, Kiev)

September 7: France 2-0 Finland - World Cup qualifier (Parc Olympique Lyonnais, Lyon)

Lloris started as captain in all three qualifiers but was unable to keep clean sheets in the opening two, as the French played out disappointing score draws against Bosnia & Herzegovina and Ukraine.

However, the 34-year-old, who won his 132nd cap in Lyon, did not concede against Finland, who failed to register a single shot on target.

Netherlands: Steven Bergwijn

Results:

September 1: Norway 1-1 Netherlands - World Cup qualifier (Ullevaal Stadion, Oslo)

September 4: Netherlands 4-0 Montenegro - World Cup qualifier (Philips Stadion, Eindhoven)

September 7: Netherlands 6-1 Turkey - World Cup qualifier (Amsterdam ArenA, Amsterdam)

Bergwijn was an unused substitute in the game against Norway but featured in the next two matches against Montenegro and Turkey.

The 23-year-old winger played the final 13 minutes in Eindhoven before coming off in the 61st minute against the Turks with an ankle problem. Bergwijn will be assessed when he returns to London to see if he can feature against Crystal Palace this weekend.

Republic of Ireland: Matt Doherty, Tory Parrott (on loan at Ipswich Town)

Results:

September 1: Portugal 2-1 Republic of Ireland - World Cup qualifier (Estadio Algarve, Almancil)

September 4: Republic of Ireland 1-1 Azerbaijan - World Cup qualifier (Aviva Stadium, Dublin)

September 7: Republic of Ireland 1-1 Serbia - World Cup qualifier (Aviva Stadium, Dublin)

Doherty started in all three qualifiers, with the 29-year-old playing as a left wing-back against Portugal. The former Wolverhampton Wanderers defender did, however, return to his more natural position as a right wing-back in the score draws against Azerbaijan and Serbia.

As for Parrott, he was an unused substitute against Portugal and Serbia but started at home to Azerbaijan, playing for 63 minutes.

Denmark: Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Results:

September 1: Denmark 2-0 Scotland - World Cup qualifier (Parken Stadium, Copenhagen)

September 4: Faroe Islands 0-1 Denmark - World Cup qualifier (Torsvollur, Torshavn)

September 7: Denmark 5-0 Israel - World Cup qualifier (Parken Stadium, Copenhagen)

Hojbjerg started in midfield against Scotland and Israel and also came off the bench in added time against the Faroe Islands for a Denmark outfit who managed to maintain their 100% start to their qualifying campaign.

Italy: Pierluigi Gollini

Results:

September 2: Italy 1-1 Bulgaria - World Cup qualifier (Stadio Artemio Franchi, Florence)

September 5: Switzerland 0-0 Italy - World Cup qualifier (Stadio Artemio Franchi, Basel)

September 8: Italy 5-0 Lithuania - World Cup qualifier (Mapei Stadium - Citta del Tricolore, Reggio Emilia)

Gollini, who made his one and only international appearance back in November 2019, was an unused substitute for all three of Italy's qualifiers, providing back-up for current number one Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Spain: Sergio Reguilon

Results:

September 8: Kosovo 0-2 Spain - World Cup qualifier (Fadil Vokrri Stadium, Pristina City)

Reguilon was only called up to the senior squad on Monday after Valencia's Jose Gaya pulled out due to injury.

The 24-year-old was handed a start at left-back against Kosovo and played for 86 minutes in what was his sixth international appearance for the senior side.

Argentina: Giovani Lo Celso, Cristian Romero

Results:

September 3: Venezuela 1-3 Argentina - World Cup qualifier (Estadio Olimpico de la UCV, Caracas)

September 5: Brazil vs. Argentina - Suspended - World Cup qualifier (Corinthians Arena, Sao Paulo)

Despite all 20 Premier League clubs agreeing to prevent their players from travelling to red-list countries during the international break, Spurs pair Lo Celso and Romero opted to join up with Argentina this month.

Lo Celso started and played 61 minutes in the victory against Venezuela, while Romero was not named in the matchday squad.

Just a few days later, the match between Brazil and Argentina - a qualifier where both Lo Celso and Romero were named in the first XI - was called off amid extraordinary scenes as officials, believed to be from Brazil's health authority, stormed on to the pitch shortly after kick-off due to an alleged coronavirus breach by Argentina's England-based players, which also included Aston Villa duo Emiliano Martinez and Emiliano Buendia.

Spurs are understood to be furious with Lo Celso and Romero and are set to fine both players once they return to London from their 10-day spell training in Croatia to avoid UK quarantine protocols.

Colombia: Davinson Sanchez

Results:

September 2: Bolivia 1-1 Colombia - World Cup qualifier (Estadio Hernando Siles, La Paz)

September 5: Paraguay 1-1 Colombia - World Cup qualifier (Estadio Defensores del Chaco, Asuncion)

Sanchez was another South American player who decided not to follow Premier League advice and travelled to his homeland this month.

The 25-year-old started in both qualifiers in the heart of the defence, though no governing officials prevented the centre-back from playing.

England Under-21s: Ryan Sessegnon, Oliver Skipp

Results:

September 7: England Under-21s 2-0 Kosovo Under-21s - Euro 2023 qualifier (Stadium MK, Milton Keynes)

England's first fixture was due to be against Romania on September 3, however it was cancelled after two positive coronavirus tests among the squad and coaching staff.

Sessegnon pulled out of the squad on Monday after suffering a knock in training and has since returned to Spurs for further assessment.

Skipp, meanwhile, started and played for 82 minutes before being taken off after hurting himself in the build up to a Kosovo attack. The 20-year-old will now be assessed when he returns to Spurs to see if he can feature against Crystal Palace this weekend.

Spain Under-21s: Bryan Gil

Results:

September 3: Spain Under-21s 4-1 Russia Under-21s - Euro 2023 qualifier (Estadio Francisco De La Hera, Almendralejo)

September 7: Lithuania Under-21s 0-2 Spain Under-21s - Euro 2023 qualifier (LFF Stadium, Vilnius)

Gil started and impressed in both matches for the youth national team, providing an assist for Spain's second goal against Russia, scored by Yeremi Pino.

The 20-year-old has only featured for two minutes as a substitute in the Premier League so far and will be hoping to take his good form from the international break with him to his new club Spurs, who he joined this summer from Sevilla.
