The AC Milan star was pulling all of the strings for his country from the middle of the park as his exquisite passing range causes allsorts of problems for France.

After causing copious amounts of danger with his set pieces, Tonali helped Italy to find the back of the net with a stunning curling free-kick that found the head of Pietro Pellegri.

That effort was enough to draw the game level at 1-1 following Arnaud Kalimuendo's stunning opener for Les Bleus in the first half, however it was France who would run out 2-1 winners in the end.

Tonali's impressive display will certainly have left supporters in Tyneside feeling very excited indeed.
