Liverpool won their fifth consecutive Champions League game with a 2-0 victory against Porto on Wednesday... with Jurgen Klopp handing a youngster his European debut

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was keen to praise youngster Tyler Morton after his impressive performance against Porto on Wednesday evening.

The Merseyside midfielder, 19, made his Champions League debut against the Portuguese outfit, helping Liverpool win 2-0 at Anfield.

Morton played a killer pass from deep for the second goal, picking up the ball on the edge of his own area and finding scorer Mohamed Salah in attack.

The youngster has been with the Reds since he was seven and broke into the first-term this season, featuring once in the Premier League and twice in the League Cup.

He's also an England U20, picking up his first international cap earlier this month against Portugal.

How good is Tyler Morton? Let us know in the comments below!

And Morton's manager Klopp was delighted with his efforts against Porto, leaving him with a selection dilemma for Saturday's Premier League game against Southampton.

"He did exceptionally well," Klopp told BT Sport. "He's a good player. I'm really pleased for him that he could put in a performance like this."

Liverpool's first goal against Porto was scored by Thiago, who was also impressed with Morton's performance.

"Some players who don't usually play played an amazing game," Thiago told reporters. "That's why we are very happy because we still have ambitious football and this hunger that we have.

"I love to train and play alongside young players, who have this hunger at the start of their careers and to give some teaching words to them to help make them brighter and better.

"We're happy with Tyler. He's a marvellous player. He's been training with us and deserved to be part of the team tonight.

"He did an amazing game as well and I think he will have a great career here at Liverpool and in football in general. We are happy to have him and it was a fantastic to play with him tonight."

Thiago's stunning long-range strike for Liverpool was his first for the club in Europe since his move from Bayern Munich in September 2020.

The Spaniard's time at Anfield has been blighted by injuries, playing just 30 Premier League games to date, but he's hoping to put his fitness woes behind him and compete for silverware.

"I try to give my best for the team," added Thiago. "I want to play for Liverpool. At the end it is about rhythm, it's about having games in a sequence and to build it up physically.

"To get this rhythm to play in this team. It's an amazing feeling to score a goal. It's an important goal for the team and incredible to score in front of this crowd.

"It's better to win the game, to get the three points and to see the team is still hungry even though we have qualified for the next stage.

"That is the best feeling, that we are still in that mood and want to win every game and most things. It was an incredible goal and was important for our win tonight."
