The home side went on to add another three goals as Ola Solbakken netted a late brace, either side of an Amahl Pellegrino strike, to secure the 6-1 victory embarrass Roma in the process.
And the travelling support were unsurprisingly fuming about their team's performance at full time as they could be seen voicing their displeasure at Mourinho's men.
And Abraham and a few other players confronted them to see what they had to say in a heated exchange.
Lorenzo Pellegrini tried to make amends by giving his shirt to the Roma fans, but they refused to accept it and gave it straight back to the midfielder.
It's the first time a Mourinho side has conceded six goals in one game and the former Chelsea boss held his hands up for the decision to send out a new-look side.
He also claimed that there are only 13 high calibre players at the club currently, while the rest of the squad are at a "different level".
He told Sky Sport Italia: "I never disguised the fact we were a squad with real limitations. We have 13 players who represent one team, the others are on a different level.
"At least the positive thing from now on is that nobody will ask me why I always use the same players."
Roma take on Napoli in the league this weekend but Mourinho is confident his side can bounce back from Thursday night's result.
He added: "Our main team is playing well and to have the right mentality. We will play with that mentality on Sunday.
"We had already said some things in private before the 6-1 defeat. This result won't make me say that in public.
"I will continue to say it in private, without advertising our internal issues."
