Sunday's Brasileiro predictions including Athletico Paranaense vs. Flamengo

Vitoria vs. Internacional (Sunday, 8.00pm)

Looking to secure their maiden win of the 2024 Brasileiro campaign at the ninth attempt, bottom side Vitoria will welcome Internacional to Estadio Manoel Barradas on Sunday afternoon.

The Black and Red have managed to get back on track slightly with successive draws recently, whilst the Reds will be aiming to extend their unbeaten streak to five matches.

With Internacional having a number of first-team stars away on international duty, Vitoria will be targeting their first maximum of the season at home on Sunday.

Despite this, the Reds have been very promising over recent weeks and should have enough quality to extend their unbeaten streak in all competitions to five games.

Corinthians vs. Sao Paulo (Sunday, 8.00pm)

Out-of-form Corinthians welcome a Sao Paulo side 10 places above them in the Brasileiro table heading into Sunday's clash at the Neo Quimica Arena.

The hosts are winless in four league games heading into gameweek nine's encounter, and they hope to end the two-month undefeated streak of their opponents.

While Sao Paulo are arguably missing more influential attacking players than Corinthians, the away side's results since Zubeldia's appointment and recent wins over their hosts (three consecutive victories in this fixture) mean the visitors are backed to record their fourth straight triumph over the struggling side.

Athletico PR vs. Flamengo (Sunday, 8.00pm)

Brasileiro leaders Flamengo will be bidding to make it seven straight victories in all competitions when they continue their league campaign away to Athletico Paranaense on Sunday night.

The visitors have collected 17 points from their eight Serie A fixtures this season to sit at the summit, one point ahead of fourth-placed Athletico Paranaense, with the two teams now preparing to lock horns.

We say: Athletico Paranaense 1-1 Flamengo

Flamengo's recent form has been excellent, but Athletico Paranaense have also made a strong start to the campaign, and their home form cannot be ignored. It would not be a surprise to see a win either way here, but we believe that a tight match will end with the points being shared.

Gremio vs. Botafogo (Sunday, 10.30pm)

Gremio will be hoping to end their poor start to the current Brasileiro campaign when they host Botafogo at the Estadio Kleber Jose de Andrade on Sunday.

The home team have lost their last three league matches while the visitors are unbeaten in their last three.

We say: Gremio 0-1 Botafogo

Botafogo have started brightly and are in better form compared to Gremio. The hosts have not beaten any team in the top-half, while the visitors have picked some impressive points on the road already. We think that the away side will nick it.

Vasco vs. Cruzeiro (Sunday, 10.30pm)

Cruzeiro make the trip to Vasco da Gama on Sunday looking for the win that could catapult them into the top five of the Brazilian top-flight standings.

Meanwhile, the home side have endured a dismal start to the campaign and are under pressure to start delivering under their new head coach.

With each of Vasco da Gama's success coming on home territory this season, they cannot be ruled out of winning this contest. Nevertheless, Cruzeiro look one of the strongest challengers thus far, and we are backing them to edge a competitive game.

Cuiaba vs. Fortaleza (Sunday, 10.30pm)

Brasileiro strugglers Cuiaba EC are set to host Fortaleza at the Arena Pantanal on Sunday, when they will hope to avoid a second consecutive defeat.

After eight games the home side are second bottom of the table in 19th place and have collected just four points, while the visitors have 10 points after seven games and are in 11th place.

Considering that Fortaleza have had a much better start to the season and have lost just once in the Brasileiro this season, they could prove too strong for relegation threatened Cuiaba.

However, neither side have been particularly prolific in front of goal this campaign having only scored six goals each, so the game on Sunday could be a closely fought contest.

Criciuma vs. Bahia (Sunday, 10.30pm)

Seeking their first home victory of the 2024 Brasileiro Serie A campaign, Criciuma will welcome Bahia to Estadio Heriberto Hulse on Sunday.

The Santa Catarina-based club were beaten 3-1 by Athletico Paranaense on Thursday, while Bahia scored late to defeat Fortaleza 1-0.

Bahia have continuously been able to grind out victories and come up with something special at pivotal moments, and that could be what separates these two sides on Sunday.
