Sunday's Argentine Primera Division predictions including Velez Sarsfield vs. River Plate

Union vs. Huracan (Sunday, 5.00pm)

Round eight of the 2022 Argentine Primera Division season sees Huracan visit the Estadio 15 de Abril to face off against Union on Sunday.

The teams are closely matched in the league table heading into this weekend's clash which promises to be a closely-contested affair.

There is very little to choose between the teams ahead of the clash which could easily swing in either direction. We are backing the sides to cancel each other out, giving rise to a share of the spoils in the end.

Godoy Cruz vs. Lanus (Sunday, 5.00pm)

Godoy Cruz play host to Lanus at the Estadio Malvinas Argentinas on Sunday in round eight of the 2022 Argentine Primera Division season.

The home side are looking to pick up a fourth win on the bounce while the visitors go in search of a first victory in seven matches across all competitions.

We say: Godoy Cruz 2-1 Lanus

Godoy Cruz are on a high heading into this one and will back themselves to get the job done. We are tipping them to come away with all three points at the end of the 90 minutes in what should be an exciting watch.

Banfield vs. San Lorenzo (Sunday, 7.30pm)

Two sides separated by just one point and two places in the top half of the Primera Division table go head to head on Sunday as Banfield play hosts to San Lorenzo at the Estadio Florencio Sola.

Diego Dabove's side head into the weekend fresh off the back of securing a place in the round of 16 of the Copa Argentina and will look to keep the juggernaut rolling.

With each of their last three meetings ending all square, we anticipate another thrilling contest as both sides take the game to each other in search of all three points. However, we are backing Banfield to build on their cup win and pick up all three points this weekend.

Tigre vs. Estudiantes (Sunday, 10.00pm)

Two sides in need of a pick-me-up in the Argentine Primera Division go head to head on Sunday when Tigre play host to Estudiantes at the Estadio Jose Dellagiovanna.

Ricardo Zielinsky's side head into the weekend fresh off the back of crashing out of the Copa Argentina and will look to clean the dust off their feet and return to winning ways.

We say: Tigre 1-1 Estudiantes

Tigre and Estudiantes have struggled for results in recent weeks and we expect them to take the game to each other in search of a morale-boosting win. However, they head into the weekend in similar form and we predict they will cancel out each other's efforts and settle for a share of the spoils.

Velez Sarsfield vs. River Plate (Monday, 12.30am)

Having locked horns in the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores, Velez Sarsfield and River Plate face off in round eight of the Argentine Primera Division on Sunday.

Los Millonarios were condemned to a 1-0 aggregate defeat in the continental matchup and will head into the weekend looking to get one over Alexander Medina's side.

We say: Velez Sarsfield 1-2 River Plate

Buoyed by their cup win over Barracas Central, River Plate will head into the weekend with renewed confidence as they look to move into the top half of the table. They face a Velez side who have suffered a slump in recent weeks and we predict they will come out victorious on Sunday.
