The 43-year-old used to play in between the sticks for sides including West Ham and Chelsea, as well as the England international team.
Green has a combined 655 competitive club appearances to his name spanning from 1999 to 2017, certainly a lengthy career in the game.
Having spent so much time on the pitch, it comes as no surprise that his hands have taken a battering.
So much so that Green now has a nasty looking long-term injury, with the top half of his little finger almost bent completely horizontally.
Speaking to Prime Video Sport, he revealed just how it has got to this point "One of the tales of goalkeeping, don't be a goalkeeper kids.

"After a long time playing in goal, it got injured, dislocated, broken numerous times, it slowly started to die.
"Then it gave up essentially, and it was when I started diving to my right and it starts sticking in the ground as I was diving that I thought, 'Yeah, perhaps I might need to get seen to.'
"The glove manufacturers very kindly made me sort of a paddle hand, which had the two main fingers and then one larger finger where I could tape them together and keep it relatively straight.
"So for the last ten years of my career or so I had a finger brace within my gloves to help me survive through the games really.

"But yeah, it's kind of stayed that way ever since and now it's a nice icebreaker for conversations and stuff like that."
Green's career kickstarted at Norwich City after rising through their academy and into the first-team until the start of 2006.
He signed for West Ham and went on to make 241 appearances for the east London side before spells at QPR, Leeds and Huddersfield.
Chelsea were the final club of his career but he did not make a competitive appearance and featured once in a pre-season friendly.
