Ramsdale posts pointed Instagram pictures after dad calls Carragher comments a 'disgrace'

The Arsenal goalkeeper was left out of the starting line-up for the north London derby on Sunday - the clearest indication yet that David Raya will now be first choice for the Gunners.

Despite the disappointment of being named on the bench, Ramsdale was the ultimate pro and was filmed applauding his teammate and rival after he made a glorious stop to deny Brennan Johnson.

But despite his gesture of solidarity and team spirit, his actions were mocked by Carragher on Sky Sports who said: "I thought it was like the Oscars, you know when someone loses the Oscar and they start clapping and smiling for the other person.

"I was laughing when I saw that. He's absolutely devastated with that really."

Carragher then claimed that he thought Ramsdale would look to leave in January, saying: "I think he will be [leaving in January], if he got an opportunity at a decent club and Arsenal were happy with that.

"I think Arsenal will be looking at it and thinking they could get a few quid for him.

"You never have two goalkeepers at the same level at a club, especially top 'keepers.

"Normally when that happens, it is because they are both not good enough and you can't decide who you should be picking."

Ramsdale's dad wasn't best pleased with the comments and snapped back at Carragher on X, formerly known as Twitter, as he posted: "You are a Disgrace!! Show some class!! My lad has."

While the Arsenal goalkeeper hasn't responded to Carragher's comments directly, he did share two images on his Instagram stories to show that supporting his teammates isn't unusual.

These included a snap of him celebrating with his Bournemouth teammates after being named on the bench, while also celebrating Reiss Nelson's 97th-minute winner against the Cherries last season.
